A sentencing hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for Lynnette Peppers of Lame Deer, MT. On May 28, 2025, Peppers was arrested in Sheridan County for felony endangering children for knowingly being in possession of methamphetamine with two of her children present in her vehicle, and misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine.

Peppers was pulled over after law enforcement received a REDDI Report that she was driving erratically and was possibly under the influence. It was discovered during the traffic stop that Peppers had been drinking, but was not over the legal limit. A search of her vehicle yielded a small amount of methamphetamine. She was placed under arrest and booked into the Sheridan County Detention Center.

Peppers, pursuant to a plea agreement reached with the State, pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing in District Court on November 21, 2025. At sentencing Tuesday, District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement and sentenced Peppers to 3 to 5 years in prison for the felony endangering children charge, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation and 120 days in jail for the misdemeanor drug possession charge, also suspended in lieu of one-year of probation and to run the jail sentence concurrent to the felony sentence.

Prior to issuing the sentence, Judge Phillips told Peppers that this was her last chance to get her substance abuse issues figured out and that if she violated the terms of her probation, she would likely be sent to prison. Phillips ordered her to pay $525 in court costs and assessments and $500 in public defender fees. Peppers was given nine days of credit of time served for presentence confinement.
