Today we conclude our look back at Johnson County’s top stories during the last year as we focus on September through December of 2025.

Crazy Woman Canyon reopened to all traffic, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists back in September.

The canyon was closed this past summer for bridge replacements and infrastructure upgrades completed jointly by Johnson County and the US Forest Service.

The Buffalo Children’s Center (BCC) temporarily closed in early October, but was expected to reopen after completing a 45-day restructuring and reopening plan.

The BCC had faced ongoing challenges with staffing shortages and financial strain, which made it impossible to continue safe and compliant operations under those circumstances.

The board planned to reopen the BCC within 45 days.

In November the Sheridan College Board of Trustees approved the purchase of land in Buffalo for the future campus of Sheridan College in Johnson County.

The board approved the purchase of roughly 11 acres of property located across from Buffalo High School at the intersection of South Main Street and Bypass Road for about $400,000. College President Dr. Walter Tribley spoke with the Johnson County Commission, giving more details on the college’s plan.

According to a November release from the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), the Buffalo Main Street Project was “close to completion” with the exception of a few final touches that still need to be completed.

In the release, WYDOT said the hope is to have Main Street open to its normal traffic pattern the week of November 10.

The Johnson County School Board voted in November to move forward with possibly reducing the number of board members in the future to bring the number of trustees down to seven from its current number of nine.

Superintendent Auzqui said he would begin the process of shrinking the board, with more discussions scheduled in the future.

And that is our look back at some of the top stories from Johnson County during 2025.
