Johnson County Year in Review, January through April of 2025
Today we begin our look back at Johnson County’s top stories during the last year as we focus on January through April of 2025.
At their meeting in early January, the Buffalo City Council welcomed Scott Madsen and Wes Haskins to the council, who were sworn into office during the meeting after the two won the election in the fall of 2024.
The Johnson County Commission welcomed new commissioner Steve Kozisek and then proceeded to re-appoint Bill Novotny as Chairman with Jeff Shelley voted in as vice-chairman.
It was announced in January that John Wallace was returning to the Bighorn National Forest where he will be the new Powder River District Ranger based in Buffalo.
Buffalo Police Chief Sean Bissett, in February, reported that local law enforcement helped to bring an end to a kidnapping incident out of <a href=”/audio/2025/12-29-41.mp3″> Campbell County.</a>
Bissett said during the incident there was no harm to the suspect, law enforcement or the victim, and the suspect was arrested and taken to the criminal justice center in Buffalo where he was charged and then transferred to Gillette to face charges there.
Year two of the Buffalo Main Street Reconstruction Project began in the spring, and continued through the fall of 2025.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) gave details on the scope of the project at a public meeting at the beginning of the project in March.
And the Johnson County School Board accepted resignations from McKenzi Wright and Daniel Escoz.
