30th Annual Christmas Stroll Held
The 30th Annual Christmas Stroll in Sheridan was held on Nov. 28. Windows of Sheridan stores were resplendent with Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, snowflakes, wreaths and candy canes. The theme was ‘30 Years of Strolling’ and businesses could decorate their windows any way they wanted this year.

Many other towns have Christmas Strolls as well. Buffalo does a version of it and Cody is starting one this year, Detimore said.

She talked about the stroll buttons, which were designed by Anwynn Fack, who designed the winning button when she was in 6th grade. As of Friday afternoon, there were still Stroll Buttons available, and they cost $5. They will be on sale until they are gone.
Kimberly Jacobson Program Development Director has been with the Chamber since July. She said it’s been wonderful to work here and do the stroll.
She said she moved here over four years ago and loves Sheridan. “It’s a great town, everyone is very friendly and welcoming,”

Since this is the 30th year of the stroll, several businesses have been a part of the stroll for the entire 30 years, and Babe’s Flowers is one of those businesses. Owner Heidi Parker talked about her store.
“It’s like tradition,” Parker said. In January, Babe’s, named for founder Babe Noonan, will be celebrating 60 years on Sheridan’s Main Street. “We are trying to figure out a little celebration,” Parker said. Babe’s opened on January 6, 1966, and has pretty much been in the same location ever since.

The flowers are number on priority, Parker said, they specialize in weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions. The gifts have been a newer addition in the past 20 years. She added that gifts went hand in hand with the Christmas stroll.
Babe Noonan, Heidi’s great aunt started the business, and Michelle Rosenthal, Babe’s niece, and her husband Frank took over the business, and Heidi is third generation in the store.

Other businesses who have participated for the past 30 years are: Cottonwood Kitchen, First Interstate Bank, D& J Coins, Caroll’s Furniture, Legacy Diamond and Gems, 45th Parallel, Best Out West, The Sport Stop and Sheridan Stationery.

No Christmas Stroll would be complete without Santa and Mrs. Claus at the WYO stage hearing children’s Christmas wishes.

Robert Gill of Sheridan talked about his family coming to see Santa.

The Frost family came to see Santa as well, dressed in identical red-plaid dresses.
Santa said that during the stroll he expects to see around 500 youngsters who want to tell him their Christmas wishes. Santa and Mrs. Claus talked about coming to the stroll this year.


The Christmas Stroll is a Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce event. Detimore added that in January the Chamber will hold its annual membership meeting, and everyone is invited to come and see what the chamber is doing.
