Sheridan Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor Charges

On February 24, 2025, the Sheridan Police Department was notified that an 11-year-old female had disclosed to a school official that she’d been sexually abused by 43-year-old Marshall McLain. A subsequent investigation by law enforcement concluded that the sexual abuse began in 2018 and continued until February of this year. McLain, pursuant to the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree at a hearing Tuesday in District Court. The plea agreement recommends a sentence of 30 to 50 years in prison for each count and to have the sentences run concurrently.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by Probation and Parole and set the sentencing date for October 14 at 11 am.  McLain’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.

Pursuant to the terms and conditions of a plea agreement that was reached between the defendant and the State, Roundstone pleaded guilty to the felony charges of aggravated assault and battery and unlawful entry into an occupied structure. The plea agreement recommends a sentence of 2 to 6 years in prison for each of the charges and to run the sentences concurrent to one another.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for October 16 at 10:30 am. According to court documents, on March 30, 2025, Roundstone entered a residence on Gould Street by crawling through the dog door and then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and threatened an individual inside the residence with the knife before chasing the person out of the home while yielding the knife.
