The preliminary plat for the Blacktooth Major Subdivision has been approved by the Buffalo City Council.

City Planner Terry Asay discussed the preliminary plat with the council.

Asay further explained that the preliminary plat is just the first step in the process.

The subdivision will still need to go through a re-zoning and will come back to the council as a final plat for consideration.

An area homeowner spoke against the proposed project, stating unwanted detrimental changes to the neighborhood and saying the re-zone to allow duplexes would negatively affect the area, which has single-family dwellings.

Another cited the project not fitting under the existing City Comprehensive Plan.

The council said concerns could be addressed at the Planning & Zoning meetings while the design is being completed.

The council voted to approve the preliminary plat and send it back to the Planning & Zoning Commission to proceed into the next step in the approval process.
