Discovery Session will educate plant identification

Sheridan Community Land Trust is calling all “Flower Finders’ and “Plant Peepers” for a spring morning on the land, where attendees will learn how to identify many of the plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees that grow in the varied habitats of the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area.
Participants will learn from botanist Bob Giurgevich as they embark on a leisurely walk along the trail and across the land, where he will share his expert identification tips and tidbits about native plants.
The event will be 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at SCLT Big Goose Natural Area, located at 14 Lane Ln., Sheridan.
SCLT is asking attendees to please wear comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes or boots. Organizers recommend dressing in layers and wearing long sleeves and pants. Please bring a water bottle and sun protection and bug spray may come in handy. The activity involves walking on uneven ground and possibly in grass and brush. Ticks, mosquitoes, and rattlesnakes are all present at the SCLT Big Goose Natural Area.
SCLT is asking no pets, please.
