The WYO Theater and Civic Theater Guild are inviting the community to witness horror on the stage as “Misery” prepares for final weekend.

There are still opportunities to witness horror on the stage as the annual co-production of the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center and the Civic Theatre Guild present an adaptation of Stephen King’s “Misery” in the Mars Theater.

Civic Theatre Guild Board President and Director Aaron Odom has chosen to use projections or digital pictures to provide setting. The technique was used in the Carriage House during the production of “The Foursome” to show 18 different holes on a golf course.

Bringing horror to the stage presents new challenges. Odom said stories like “Misery” are a rollercoaster. Something fun and a little terrifying.

Jennifer Smith plays Annie Wilkes, a fan driven mad by expectation and disappointment. JJ Reign plays Paul Sheldon, the author who through a turn of events finds himself at the mercy of his number one fan and David Britton, who plays the role of Sheriff Buster; the “hope” of the production.

Shows will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 20-22  and at 2 p.m. Feb. 23. Purchase tickets at the WYO Theater Box Office or by clicking here
