cvannoyThe Brinton Museum proudly announces its opening for the 2025 season on February 6, themed Celebrating Women in the West. This year’s exhibitions and programming will spotlight the essential role of women in shaping the culture and heritage of the American West, offering dynamic opportunities for visitors to explore their stories and impact.
The season begins with the 20th annual Illustrator Show, featuring the work of Linda Pease, a celebrated member of the Crow Nation. Pease’s vibrant, collage-style paintings blend materials like ledger paper, vintage maps, and photographs to create whimsical, story-driven art. Drawing inspiration from Crow legends, Montana and Wyoming landscapes, and her female ancestors, Pease’s work captures the imagination and celebrates the enduring influence of women in her life and heritage.
Anchoring the season is Lindsay Linton Buk’s acclaimed Women in Wyoming exhibition, on view from March 6 to July 13. This multimedia exhibition features large-scale portraits and interactive storytelling elements that celebrate the achievements and resilience of Wyoming women. The exhibition spans five chapters exploring themes of leadership, resilience, and creativity, showcasing women who have shaped their communities and beyond.
Two exciting public programs will accompany the Women in Wyoming exhibition. An opening reception on March 7 will include remarks by Linton Buk and Women in Wyoming participant Rosie Berger, followed by a multidisciplinary performance featuring hoop dancer Jasmine Pickner Bell and Wyoming Poet Laureate Barbara Smith. On April 11, during the Sheridan Press FAB Women’s Conference, The Brinton Museum will host a VIP meet-and-greet with Linton Buk and women featured in the project. The following day, Linton Buk will deliver the keynote address at the conference, joined by a panel discussion with Women in Wyoming participants.
Through these exhibitions and programs, The Brinton Museum seeks to celebrate and elevate the voices of women who have shaped the West, fostering community engagement and honoring their contributions.
We’re excited to kick off 2025 with two new exhibitions this February! The Art of Linda Pease – 20th Illustrator Show opens on February 6, followed closely by the annual All-Schools 5th Grade Student Art Show on February 8.
