Sheridan City Councilor Steve Brantz and Parks Director Steve Gage made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the winterizing of Sheridan’s park system.

According to Gage, the Parks Department begins planning for winterization as early as July in many years.

According to Gage, irrigation systems have been drained, and pipes insulated to prevent damage. This process involves the entire team of the parks department due to the high number of lines.

Playground equipment and park amenities are secured or covered to withstand winter conditions. Walking trails and pathways are treated to reduce ice buildup, ensuring safety for visitors.

During the winter months some amenities are unavailable and residents should keep in mind that some park restrooms and water fountains will be closed through winter.

Gage said the trails may still be icy, though his team works to ensure they are accessible.

The City advises that residents and visitors wear appropriate footwear and use caution on winter days.
