Pat BlairThe Wyoming School Board Association is inviting parents, students, communities and fellow educators to join in special recognition of teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week this year.
The event will be May 4-8, and the school board association is asking people to post a short video, picture or story about their favorite teacher online during the week. They can tag Ignite Wyoming on Facebook or Instagram to show their support for what teachers do all year long.
According to a news release from the state school board association, in the past few weeks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, school teachers have stepped up to provide learning opportunities that no one could have imagined just two months ago.
The release calls the state’s education professionals the “foot soldiers,” removing roadblocks to ensure the state’s students have access to food, supplies, connectivity and instructional opportunities while simultaneously protecting the public health of their communities.
According to the release, “Wyoming educators are going not just the extra mile but an extra 100-plus miles to provide the best education possible to all of our students.”
