Aaron PalmerThis month’s presentation by the Johnson County Historical Society will be on Sacajawea, the Shoshone woman that helped the Lewis and Clark Expedition explore the newly-acquired Louisiana Purchase for the United States government.
The presentation will be given by Ira Roadifer, a member of the Clearmont Historical Group, who researches Wyoming history and enjoys visiting historical sites. He has helped publish 10 books with the group and helped with the Heritage Book, Backward Glance.
According to a release from the historical society, Sacajawea was a prominent figure in Lewis and Clark’s Corp of Discovery expedition to the Pacific Ocean, to explore the lands of the Louisiana Purchase that President Thomas Jefferson had recently acquired.
Roadifer will take those attending the presentation along their path, sharing stories of the journey and discussing what happened to Sacajawea after the expedition, including where she is likely buried.
The presentation will be offered on Monday, October 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Twing Room at the Johnson County Library in Buffalo.
The public is invited to attend.
