The Clearmont Town Council met on Monday, September 16, following a public hearing on the Dusty Boggs variance request for a holding tank on his land.

In his mayor’s report, Chris Schock said that in the last primary election the Wyoming House gained three more Freedom Caucus Members, which he felt was not good for small towns.

Small towns depend on the direct distribution to keep them going.

The major talked about the upcoming Clearmont Community Center and Library Dinner and Auction, Sunday September 29th at 5:30 pm. He said the school is cooking the meal this year, which will be BBQ ribs and cheesy potatoes. He added that there may be a special guest attending this year.

Schock reported on the waterline replacement project, saying it was going well.
He talked about Water Well #3, which the town has been having several problems with since they started the project. He said the town hired another engineer from Casper, who is giving them a second opinion on the well’s feasibility. Schock said that the engineer is ‘optimistic’ about the well.

Schock mentioned the upcoming Women’s Antelope Hunt banquet to be held at the Ranch at Ucross, which will be held October 10-13.

Clerk Kirstie Auzqui reported on the WAMCAT meeting she attended, and on the improvements being done on the town hall, including windows.

Council member Kaelan Haring reported on the Clear Creek Recreation District and upcoming events such as Trunk or Treat on Halloween.

After a lengthy discussion the council moved to approve the Variance Request from Dusty Boggs and Trudy Lawrence for a holding tank for septic on his land on School Street. Boggs will also have to approach Sheridan County as well about any permits needed.

Also discussed was a pre-buy for winter propane from Big Horn Co-op, and the past-due utilities and shut-off notice in-office process. There was also the first reading of ordinance #123: Utility Rate Increases.

The next meeting will be October 21 2024.
