The Kendrick Park Pool Renovation Project is slated to begin soon and construction of the pickup/dropoff loop will endanger the root system of several trees in the area of the existing bathhouse. According to the City of Sheridan, tree removal has begun and will continue through August 23. The contractor is using a crane to safely remove the trees. The legacy of the two large cottonwood trees will live on through scions cultivated by the City’s Parks’ department.

The scions will be planted in areas that will not present any immediate danger to the public. Hardwood trees will be planted to replace the shade canopy and greenery and City Arborist Clark Van Hoosier will work closely with the contractor to select species that promote the City’s strategic goals of the “Right Tree in the Right Location”. The grand opening of the newly renovated Kendrick Park Pool is tentatively planned for spring of 2026.
