Aaron PalmerJohnson County’s Commissioners have drafted and sent two letters, one to the Director of the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and one to the Director of the Wyoming Game & Fish Department, expressing their opposition to grizzly bears inhabiting the Bighorn Mountains.
In the letters, the commission said grizzlies should be allocated to the greater Yellowstone ecosystem, but their presence in the Bighorn Mountains would lead to human conflicts and destruction of Johnson County’s tourism economy, and commended the Wyoming Game & Fish for removing the bear that was recently found on the western slopes of the mountains near TenSleep.
The commission asked for further efforts to keep grizzlies from establishing themselves in the Bighorn Mountains.
We have provided copies of the letters below.
