Sheridan County Assessor Paul Fall made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the newly passed property tax legislation.
First was HB0045 – Property tax exemption-residential structures and land. This bill puts a cap on residential valuation, but does come with caveats.
P. Fall
Veterans received a boost in the amount of exemption. But as in previous years, must meet the deadline to receive either property tax or vehicle registration exemption.

For residents over the age of 65 who have paid taxes in Wyoming for 25 years, property taxes have been cut in half, but Fall warns that this is only scheduled for the next two years.
P. Fall
Fall said he hopes lawmakers are discussing a plan to either extend or at least ease the burden once the 50% exemption expires.
The Property Tax Relief Program also received a boost and has grown in its use over the last four years.

If Sheridan County residents have questions regarding the recent changes, Fall invites the community to call or visit his office where he and his team will be glad to help.

So if you jump thru the right hoops, you might qualify to get a 50% exemption on a property tax that’s up 30 to 60% in just the last few years. And we should hurry, cuz it expires in 2 yrs. Gee thanks mr. taxman.
Guess we should be glad the gov’t “allows” us to keep ANY of our money, since it all belongs to Big-Gubmint anyway, right?
