State Representative Barry Crago (R-House District 40) is in Cheyenne for the 2024 Legislative Budget Session and will be talking with Sheridan Media during the weeks he is in session.

Crago said the funding for local governments (city and county), or Direct Distribution, in the state doesn’t appear to be a contentious issue at least so far in this legislative session.

Governor Mark Gordon, in his budget proposal to the legislature, earmarked $105 million for that purpose, but here has been some discussion on the amount, according to Crago.

Crago reiterated that the two big issues facing the legislature this year is the budget and property tax reform and relief.

He said there are a lot of other issues floating but those will work themselves out once lawmakers get through the tax bills and the budget.

We will have more from our conversation with Representative Crago in upcoming stories.
