Buffalo residents spoke up during the recent city council meeting to ask the city leaders to do something about various nuisances in the city.

Frank Morello asked for better enforcement of nuisance ordinances concerning junk, abandoned cars and trailers on some properties in his neighborhood, saying his tax dollars are not being used for enforcement.

Morello suggested educating the public about the nuisance ordinances as well as the city hiring an enforcement officer would help in deterring these nuisances.

City Building Inspector Terry Asay spoke on the problems, saying he handles the complaints on a case-by-case by basis.

Asay said it has been a while since he last inspected the properties and would again if requested to do so.

Lynn Miller also addressed the council about an ongoing problem she is having with a neighbor and their barking dog.

She has spoken to the council about the problem in the past and asked what the council was going to do to correct the problem.

Mayor Shane Schrader said he would speak with City Attorney Ben Kirven to see what can legally be done.

The city did away with the animal control officer years ago and this guy wants to hire an employee to take care of what he deems to be a nuisance!
