cvannoyChristine Dieterich from Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns gave a slide presentation to the legislators on Tuesday, Dec. 5. This was the first time that Habitat for Humanity of the had come before the legislators at the forum.
This year the legislators attending the forum were Senators Dave Kinskey and Bo Biteman, along with Representatives Barry Crago, and Cyrus Western, Mark Jennings and Ken Pendergraft, at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Legislative forum.
Dieterich talked about how long habitat for Humanity had been building homes in Sheridan.
She also talked about their fund raising, and the Restore Store, that is open to the public and the sales of the items go towards their projects. Used household items can be donated to the ReStore, which is located on 44 Fort Road.
She also invited the legislators to come help built a home one day.
Habitat for Humanity addresses the critical need for housing opportunities for families in need. They serve families whose income is 30 to 80 percent of current median income as defined by the US dept of housing and urban development.
During the past year, Habitat has graduated 15 students from their financial foundation’s education program, helping people attain empowerment over their finances; ten repairs through the Brush with Kindness, which does low-cost repairs and remodels, and supplied over $5,000 in vouchers to the ResStore for home furnishings from the Fresh start Fund.
