Treasures from the Collection includes nearly 70 works of art representing genres from the 19th century to contemporary artists of today. Bradford Brinton’s interest in art subjects ranged from watercolors by English 19th century painter and engraver of sporting art Henry Thomas Alken (1785-1851) to modern lithographs depicting boxers fighting in the ring by American Realist painter George Bellows (1882-1925).

He also collected works on ornithology as evidenced by four original engravings by John James Audubon (1785-1851) on display in the historic ranch house and works by wildlife artist Reginald “Rex” Brasher (1869-1960) who chronicled all 1,200 bird species and subspecies in America in his epic work, Birds and Trees of North America, published in the 1930s.

Recent acquisitions to the collections represent art by internationally and nationally known artists whose works have been acquired through gift donations or museum purchases. Founded in 1960, The Brinton Museum is a fine arts institution devoted to preserving the art and history of the West. Located on the historic Quarter Circle A Ranch in the foothills of the majestic Bighorn Mountains, it features 19th, 20th and 21st century American and Indian Art in a historic Western setting.
