Repairs are necessary on the Carnegie Building that houses a portion of Buffalo’s Jim Gatchell Museum, and donations made now through the end of August will be doubled thanks to an anonymous donor.

The donor will match donations for the project up to $30,000 according to Museum Director Sylvia Bruner.

She explains what repairs need to be done to the building.

The total estimate on all the repairs is about $600,000 which is about twice their annual operating budget, according to Bruner.

Repairs will be performed over the next few years so the entire amount won’t be needed all at once.

She said the county commission is setting aside funds for the repairs as well.

The hope is to get the first phase of repairs started this fall.

Donations can be made by August 31 for the matching donation on the museum website, in person, or by mail.
