Ron RichterThe process of applying de-icing materials on streets in the City of Sheridan will be more efficient this upcoming winter once the plows are out maintaining the roads. The City is in the process of purchasing three new v-box spreaders that are hydraulic and would apply the de-icing materials at a more controlled rate than the City’s current electric sanders on the plow trucks. City Street Maintenance Supervisor Trai Bryant.
Bryant said the sanders will be connected to the Force America control system, which is the setup the City is using on their more recent plow trucks. He said the system allows vehicle tracking through location, spreader rate, and material usage, and in the case of a breakdown, the equipment can be swapped out to allow continued operation during an event. Staff is recommending the City Council approve the purchase of three Henke HXC series v-box spreaders from Wausau Equipment Company, LLC, in the amount of $136,340.
