For the past five years, local arts organizations have come together to present Celebrate the Arts. This festival celebrates the vibrant visual, literary and performing arts communities within the Sheridan Region. Organizations involved include The Brinton Museum, SAGE Community Arts, Sheridan College’s Whitney Center for the Arts, Ucross Foundation, and the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Director of External Relations from the Ucross Foundation, Caitlin Addlesperger, announced a big change that has taken place for this year’s festival.

The Celebrate the Arts festival will kick off on Aug. 1, as the Jentel Artist Residency Program presents the work the artists have been creating, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at SAGE Community Arts.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, The Ucross Foundation will host an artist talk with Helanius J. Wilkins. Currently in residence at Ucross, Wilkins is an award-winning choreographer, performance artist, artivist, and educator who engages artmaking to forge paths towards social change and equitable landscapes. The artist talk will be held in the Lauren Anderson Dance Studio at Ucross and is free and open to the public.
