Sheridan HS Senior Katelyn Reckard Named Miss Wyoming Teen America 2023

A Sheridan High School senior and teen beauty queen is trying to raise awareness about mental health illness.

Katelyn Reckard was recently named Miss Wyoming Teen America 2023.

The competition was held in late June at the WYO Theater in Sheridan and is a scholarship based competition unlike the Miss USA pageant.

Her platform is step 1 which is used to advocate for mental health and it’s something she says she struggles with.

“To get some advocacy out there and help people to understand what people who suffer from mental health illness is. One of my big plans this year is that I will be using my love for government and I’m going to be working with the Wyoming State Legislature to hopefully pass a bill about mental health education in schools.”

Miss Reckard will soon compete in the The National Miss Teen America competition.
