Clearmont Town Council Addresses Several Topics

The Clearmont Town Council met on June 19, with a host of visitors and a full agenda. The first topic for discussion was the town water line replacement. Dave Engels of Engineering Associates talked about why the replacement was necessary.

Engels also talked about the problems with Well #3, and the turbidity issues and how Weston Groundwater and Engineering, the company that drilled the well, plans to fix the problem.

Cheryl Roebling came to talk to the council about donating $500 to Clearmont Day, which will be this Saturday, June 24. The council approved the donation to Clearmont Day.

Roebling and several other residents attended the meeting to ask the council to address he issue of barking dogs. The town will look into writing up a policy on how to address the issue.

Sheridan County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Hilsabeck attended the meeting and said he would do a welfare check to make sure the dogs were not being mistreated.

Mayor Chris Schock talked to Hilsabeck about the signs that had been spray painted around the town around the end of May.

Schock also talked about the upcoming wellness check clinics that will be held in Clearmont, and the Wyoming Association of Municipalities (WAM) June conference.

Only one bid was received for a new town truck and the council voted to accept the bid from Wolf Auto Group for the truck. Maintenance man Pete Bassett will check the prices on plows to be attached to the truck for clearing winter streets in winter. No bids were received on the side-by-side.

Bassett reported that the John Deere riding lawnmower is 13-years old and is beginning to need repairs. Bassett felt the mower would last this summer. He also reported that the water tank painting is complete, but the paint needs to cure for sometime, and that the temperature has not been ideal for curing the paint.

The council approved FY 2024 Mill Levy Ordinance, FY 2024 Budget Ordinance and the Vacation Ordinance #120 on the third and final readings.

Next meeting will be July 17.
