Johnson County Public Health Nurse Kristin Freidrich has asked the county commission to lift the county-wide hiring freeze currently in place for her to hire a part-time employee in the public health office.

She explained further.

Freidrich said the recent Community Needs Assessment outlined that there are needs to be addressed for families and the elderly and the need for additional programs to serve them.

As it stands, it isn’t possible to add additional work to those in Public Health, and she believes an additional part-time nurse to help.

She gave the commissioners an estimate on the cost for the additional nurse.

The position would require a budget request amendment from Public Health according to discussions, which Freidrich said she would make.

The commissioners said they would consider the request during their upcoming budget hearings.
