Chief of the Sheridan Police Department Travis Koltisk and Captain Tom Ringley appeared on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse to discuss recognition of National Police Week.
This year, National Police Week runs Sunday May 14, – Saturday May 20, and gives communities an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing police officers every day and how residents can support them.
The week is used to honor those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
Although the week is set aside for the public to remember these men and women of the shield, Captain Ringley said the thought is never far from the mind of those who serve and protect the Sheridan community.
When asked what the community can do to help officers in the Sheridan community, the Chief and Captain requested residents obey lawful orders and commands by officers during incidents.
In honor of these officers, the Wyoming Peace Officer Memorial ceremony will occur on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy.
