Representative Western Introduces Budget Amendment for Wildlife Crossings

Wyoming State Representative Cyrus Western of Sheridan introduced a budget amendment to the House budget bill on second reading. According to the Wyoming Wildlife Federation, the amendment appropriates $5 million to the Wyoming Wildlife Natural Resource Trust with a dollar for dollar match to be earmarked for work on wildlife crossings throughout the state.
Representative Western, in a news release issued by the WWF, said that this is a big win for wildlife, outdoor enthusiasts, and highway safety, and while it certainly doesn’t solve the problem, $5 million of matching funds is a big shot in the arm towards building wildlife crossings and rebuilding healthy mule deer herds.
