Mayor Proclaims May 5 Buddy Poppy Day in Buffalo

Mayor Shane Schrader has proclaimed May 5 as Buddy Poppy Day in the City of Buffalo.

During the Tuesday city council meeting, Mayor Schrader spoke about the proclamation.

Schrader asked all residents to pay tribute to those that made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom by wearing a Buddy Poppy on that day.

According to the VFW website, Buddy Poppies are assembled by disabled and needy veterans at US Veterans Administration Hospitals.

Money raised through the program helps compensate veterans who assemble them and provides financial assistance to veterans rehabilitation and service programs among other programs.
