State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan) spoke to the Buffalo City Council at their recent meeting to discuss the Legislative Session which got underway this week in Cheyenne.

Kinskey said the legislature will be looking at building jobs through the Wyoming Works Program.

He said Governor Mark Gordon has earmarked $4 million in his budget for the program, which is designed to get non-traditional students back to community college to learn a skill for better paying jobs.

Kinskey said he will be watching to see how he can help with the alternative school that Johnson County School District #1 is trying for.

He said the benefit of this type of school is not only increasing the graduation rate, but create a program that is aimed towards more project-based, hands-on student learners so then it becomes more of a magnet school not only for those that would ordinarily be in an alternative school setting, but those that gravitate more towards a career.
