Clearmont School Board Discusses Fueling Station, Lunch Prices

SCSD#3 held their monthly meeting on July 20th. Jay Buhr, maintenance, reported that the school is ready for the first day of school.

Clearmont School District #3 meeting. Several board policies were approved, and they board approved the NWCCD Sheridan College and Arvada/Clearmont Dual and concurrent MOU.

The board approved the school nursing contract for Kelly Glackin for the 2022-23 school year, and the hiring of one new elementary teacher Isolina Nimick. They also approved the new work-based learning courses and credits that will count towards graduation, including internships and work for credit.

Greg Rohrer, business manager, reported that the school budget is this year and the money left in the account is about average. He added that the lunch program has a shortfall.

Other items included approving to appoint Jennifer Betz as district attendance officer, and approval to appoint Copenhaver, Kitchen and Kolpitcke, LLC, as legal representation for the board and the district, as the previous legal representative is retiring.

There was discussion on the absent policy, and what could be done to discourage absences in students.

Leasing the fuel station from BNSF railroad was discussed, but the board agreed they needed more information from BNSF on the lease price. Superintendent Chase Christensen will pursue the matter.

Trustee Chris Schock mentioned that he felt that the school should invite the Sheridan County Sheriff to the school to discuss school safety.

Christensen also mentioned the back to school community BBQ to be held on Thursday, August 11 at 4:30, and a school open house will be from 2-6. The community is invited, and the church will furnish the food and the town of Clearmont will furnish bottled water.

The first day of school is Monday, August 15.
