JCTA Updates Buffalo Council on Visitors Center

The Johnson County Tourism Association (JCTA) will be running the satellite visitor’s center near the Highway 16/Interstate 90 interchange east of Buffalo, and representatives came before the Buffalo City Council at a recent meeting to answer questions and request one-percent funding from the city.
Cathy Bradley, with the JCTA, explained that the organization has taken over the facility once run by the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, and had applied for one-percent funds from both the county and city to operate the facility.
Bradley wanted to make the request of the city council to award funds to them in addition to the already awarded county funds.
According to discussions, the satellite visitors center is invaluable, because
many visitors aren’t aware there is a downtown area in Buffalo just a few miles away, but when they stop at the visitors center staffmembers there are doing a good job in steering them into town instead of them just getting back on the Interstate and leaving.
The facility was scheduled to open before the end of May and operate until mid-September, according to Bradley.
