Kaycee Residents Concerned Over Ambulance Services

About 30 residents of Kaycee attended the Johnson County Rural Health Care District board meeting there Monday evening to voice concerns, ask questions, and speak in support the ambulance services provided to the community.
Board President Marilyn Connolly opened the meeting and went into the public comment time of the agenda to give everyone a chance to speak.
Questions included if the Kaycee Ambulance Service would remain; how the separate ambulance services work and how they are overseen by the district; why Buffalo’s service is a private service and Kaycee’s is not; and the possible changes to the service there, with the possibility of the EMTs becoming paramedics and the pros and cons from that.
Discussions also centered on the budget process, the issues surrounding rural emergency services, and the possibility of finding more people to become EMTs for the community.
One resident asked if it was going to be possible for Kaycee Ambulance Services to continue operating with paramedics, to which Connolly said, “yes.”
