Aaron PalmerThe Buffalo City Council has denied a request from Simon Contractors, who is the contractor on the Klondike Drive reconstruction project, to release the roughly $43,000 in funds the city owes them, known as retainage.
The council discussed their opposition to releasing the funds.
The project was to be a pavement overlay on the portion of Klondike Drive owned by the city from Yukon Lane to Fullerton Avenue, with an original budgeted amount of roughly $275,000. A later amendment to the contract added $175,000 to the amount of the project due to do the city opting to do a full-depth reclamation with a cement stabilization on the roadway, as opposed to doing just a simple overlay.
The council voted to table the request for the relase of funds until the remaining work on the project is completed.
