Bailey Hassler is this year’s recipient of the Sheridan College President’s Award.

The award is presented each year to a graduating sophomore based on cumulative grade point average and the student’s participation and leadership both within Sheridan College and the broader community.

Hassler, who is from Billings, received an Associate of Science degree in health science this spring and returned to Sheridan College this fall to pursue an Associate of Science in dental hygiene concurrently with a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from the University of Wyoming. She expects to complete her work by May 2021.

Dr. Walt Tribley, president of the Northern Wyoming Community College District, said Hassler has been described as exemplifying all that Sheridan College hopes to see in its students. During her time at Sheridan College, she has served as a resident assistant, a student partner for the Sheridan College Foundation, a microbiology laboratory assistant and an active member of TRIO and the TRIO Club.

She also volunteers at the Sheridan Dog & Cat Shelter, represents Sheridan College at Third Thursday events in downtown Sheridan and is learning sign language to better assist her future patients.

Hassler will give a speech during Sheridan College’s 2020 virtual commencement ceremony to be premiered on Facebook at 6 p.m. Friday.
