University of Wyoming and Mountain West Conference Football: It’s Bowl week for the Wyoming Cowboy football team.
This Saturday is the Arizona Bowl as the Pokes take on Toledo.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pm and you can hear the game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
The team arrived in Tucson yesterday to prepare for the game.
Toledo will be minus their main quarterback who decided to transfer to Baylor, but their main strength has been their running game as they average more than 200 yards on the ground per game which is 11th in the nation.
For UW, this will be the final game for Coach Craig Bohl who will retire after the game.
As for the rest of the Mountain West Conference, things have not gone well in bowl games.
The conference is 2-4 overall.
This past weekend, Air Force was the lone victor as they beat James Madison in the Armed Forces Bowl 31-21.
Georgia State beat Utah State in the Potato Bowl 45-22 and Coastal Carolina topped San Jose State in the Hawaii Bowl 24-14.
Last night UNLV was down 28-7 at one point vs. Kansas in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, then rallied and were only down 28-24 after 3 quarters, but then the Jayhawks were able to pull away and win 49-36.
University Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are preparing for their final non-conference game this Saturday at BYU.
Tip off is scheduled for 4pm.
As for the Wyoming Cowgirls, this past Friday they dropped their final non-conference game against Eastern Washington 62-43.
UW starts conference play this Saturday at home vs. Boise State.
Tip off is scheduled for 12:30pm.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos lost a game that they should’ve won.
New England kicked a 56 yard field goal in the final seconds to win 26-23 and damage Denver’s playoff hopes.
The Broncos are 7-8 on the season and are 1 game back of the final wild card spot in the AFC, with 2 to go.
Denver plays their home finale this coming Sunday against the LA Chargers.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:25pm.
Sheridan County High School Winter Sports: All Sheridan County High Schools are out on winter break and that means there’s no games scheduled this week either.
In basketball, Sheridan will be back in action on January 4th, 5th and 6th at Cheyenne against opponents to be announced.
The Big Horn and Tongue River boys next play on January 5th and 6th.
They’ll play their games either at Lingle and/or at Lusk.
Scheduled to be announced.
The BH and TR girls will also play on January 5th and 6th, but their games will be played at either Wright and/or at Sundance.
Arvada-Clearmont will be back in action the following weekend at Dubois.
The Sheridan boys wrestlers next competition will be January 5th and 6th at Douglas, while the girls will compete at Bozeman.
The Tongue River wrestlers will also be at Douglas.
The Sheridan boys swim team will host the Sheridan Invitational next week Friday and Saturday.
Next week practice can officially start for the indoor track and field team.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets have now won 5 in a row and 8 of their last 9.
This past Friday, they won at Brooklyn 122-117, on Saturday they won at Charlotte 102-95, and then won on Christmas Day at home vs. Golden State 120-114.
Denver is back in action tomorrow at home vs. Memphis.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won this past Saturday at Arizona 4-1.
They will rematch the Coyotes tonight in Denver.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks have no games scheduled this week.
They will be back in action next week Friday and Saturday at Cody and their next home games are the following weekend.
