Fall Pumpkin Festival

A resolution will be considered by the Sheridan City Council in early September that will designate the first Saturday after Halloween as the date for the City’s annual Fall Pumpkin Festival. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Last year, the City Council adopted a resolution that authorized city staff to organize and host a community event referred to as the “Fall Pumpkin Festival”. The inaugural event was held on November 6, 2021. City Utilities Director Dan Roberts addressed the City Council and Mayor Rich Bridger at this week’s study session.
Roberts said the objectives of the festival are to build a family oriented community event and to promote the composting of pumpkins.
Roberts said they are recommending the event take place at Black Tooth Park as it is ideal for its open space and parking. The exact time of the event will be determined in the future. There will once again be designated pumpkin drop-off locations throughout the city for residents that want to donate their pumpkins before the event, or community members can bring their pumpkins to Black Tooth Park on the day of the event, where there’ll be a drive-through drop off location or the option to carry them in. City staff intend to reach out to local pumpkin vendors to request donations of their extra pumpkins. Roberts said there will be pumpkin related games for children of all ages that will include things like a pumpkin throwing contest, pumpkin smashing, pumpkin ring toss, pumpkin slingshot, pumpkin golf and a pumpkin rolling race.
