JCSD1 Superintendent Discusses Legislative Session

The recently completed Wyoming Legislative Session was one topic of discussion between Superintendent Charles Auqui and the Johnson County School Board during their last regular meeting.’
Auzqui talked about the major legislation that will be affecting school districts.
Auzqui said now that the lawsuit has been won, legislators are now tasked with finding ways to fund schools.
According to Auzqui, the rumor mill is saying some items up for possible discussion to find ways to save money are special education, transportation, activities, and class sizes.
He said he was excited the district received the $4.5 million dollars for the Kaycee School Project, but the Gun-Free Zone Bill passed by the legislature will be a major priority to work on before the July deadline when it takes effect.
