SCSD#1 Board of Trustees Hears Presentation on BHMS

The SCSD#1 Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, March 11, in Big Horn. They heard a presentation about Big Horn Middle School. One item that Brian Lawson, Big Horn Middle School Principal, mentioned was revamping the mission statement.
He introduced Ashley Mines, BHMS Literacy Coach, who talked about what they are doing with the students at BHMS, and MTSS, or Multi-Tier System of Support, which is a data driven system to provide support for all students.

There were no visitors who signed up to address any issues with the board, so the board moved on the student representatives, Paxten Aksamit from Tongue River and Lindsey Walker from Big Horn.

“We’re in Big Horn, so let’s start with Lindsey,” Chairman Clint Krumm said. “Lindsay, what’s going on in Big Horn High School.”
She talked about the Girls and Boys’ basketball teams at state, and while the girls’ team did not place this year, it looks very bright for the future.
She added that the date for Big Horn High School Prom is set for April 26.
Paxten Aksamit reported on what is happening on the Tongue River side of the District.
The Tongue River High School Prom will be on May 5.
In other business the board approved several policies on the second reading, they approved the Adminstrator Contract Renewals for 2025-2026, and approve early graduation requests.
Next meeting will be April 15 at the SCSD#1 Central Office Board Room in Ranchester.
