Sheridan County Approves Adding Whistleblower Policy

The Sheridan County Commission considered and approved the addition of a “Whistleblower” policy to the County Personnel Policies.
County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller explained why the addition of the policy is important to the county.
According to the Addendum, a whistleblower is an employee who reports an activity that they consider to be illegal or dishonest to one or more of the parties specified in the policy. The whistleblower is not rsponsible for investigating the activity or for determining fault or corrective measures.
The policy protects the whistleblower through confidentiality and against retaliation.
Before the vote, Commissioner Terry Cram said he generally was opposed to adding more policies to the County Personnel Policies, but said this was a welcome addition.
