Sheridan Fire and Rescue are asking the public to avoid the area of the 200 block of Broadway Street.

Sheridan Fire and Rescue Captain Jerry Johnston would like to alert the Sheridan community that Fire and Rescue has been called to a natural gas line strike at the 200 block of Broadway Street.

Initial contact crews found a contractor performing horizontal boring operations who had struck a natural gas line located under the street.

Crews have isolated the area and evacuated two local businesses in the area as a safety precaution and closed Broadway Street from Grinnell to Alger Streets.

Montana Dakota Utilities is on scene for assistance and guidance at this time. There is no estimated timeframe for completion of the repair.

Sheridan Fire and Rescue is asking everyone to avoid the area and additional information will be provided when available.
