Sheridan County High School Volleyball Recap: Sept, 10-11, 2021

The Sheridan volleyball team started quadrant play and played in their home opener this past weekend while Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont played at the Big Horn Invitational.

The weekend didn’t go well for the Lady Broncs.

They were swept at Kelly Walsh @5-20, 25-13, 25-4), and then lost 3-1 in their home opener vs. Cody (25-15, 25-13, 22-25, 25-7).

Sheridan is now 4-10 on the season, with an 0-1 record in the 4A Norhteast.

Next on the schedule is a home match vs. Thunder Basin on Friday, September 17th at 5pm, and then at Campbell County on Saturday, September 18th at Noon.

Big Horn enjoyed the comforts of home at the Big Horn Invitational.

On Friday, the Lady Rams tied Kaycee 1-1 (lost the first 13-25 and won the second 26-25), then defeated St. Stephens 2-0 (25-13, 25-4), and then settle for a tie vs. Rocky Mountain (lost the first 26-24, won the second 25-22).

Because BH finished in the top 2 of their pool, they moved onto the maroon bracket on Saturday vs. other 1st and 2nd place pool teams.

In the first round, BH won a non-quadrant game vs. Tongue River 2-0 (25-23 25-16), but then fell in the semi-finals vs. eventual champion Riverside 2-0 (25-20, 25-22), to finish the weekend with a 2-1-2 record.

The Lady Rams are currently 7-6-2 on the 2021 season.

They start 2A Northeast quadrant play on Friday at home vs. Wright starting at 3pm and then visit Moorcroft on Saturday at 1pm.

Tongue River was also at the Big Horn Invite, where they had pool play games vs. Moorcroft (tied 1-1 (won the first 25-22, lost the second 23-25)), Wind River (won) and Glenrock (won 2-0 (26-24, 25-23)).

In bracket play TR fell to Big Horn 2-0 (25-23, 25-16), then defeated Upton, then lost to Kaycee.

The Eagles now have a record of 5-4-2.

Tongue River is scheduled to host Burlington this Friday at 4pm and then visit Thermopolis at 2pm.

Arvada-Clearmont also played the Big Horn Invitational vs. a number of JV opponents.

On Friday, A-C lost to Rocky Mountain’s JV 2-0 (21-14, 21-10), as well as Big Horn’s JV 2-0 (21-18, 22-20), but tied Kaycee’s JV 1-1 (lost the first 21-23, won the second 21-16).

Then on Saturday, the girls tied Rocky Mountain’s JV 1-1 (won the first 21-19, lost the second 21-12) and then won vs. Greybull JV 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).

The Lady Panthers have a record of 1-5-2 and are scheduled to host Kaycee this Friday at 11am.
