Troopers Sweep Halos / Shrine Bowl Practice Starts

The Sheridan Troopers won both ends of a double-header back on Saturday (June 5th) against the Billings Halos…winning game one, 18-to-3 and game two, 21-to-2.

In the first game, Trevor Stowe had 3 hits and 4 R-B-I’s, while Hunter Stone had 3 hits and 3 R-B-I’s of his own.

In game 2, Stone had 4 more R-B-I’s, while Cody Kilpatrick brought in 4 runs of his own.

The Troopers record is now 16-and-9 on the season.

This weekend will be a busy one.

Conference play starts Thursday (June 10th) with a double-header at Gillette…first pitch is scheduled for 5pm.

Sheridan then returns home Friday for a double-header against West Fargo, North Dakota…first pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm…and then another twin bill at home on Saturday vs. the 406 Flyers from Billings.

Those 2 games are scheduled to start at 1pm at Thorne Rider Stadium.

Sheridan County football players that just graduated get to put on the pads one last time this week.

Practice starts today (June 7th) in Casper for the annual Shrine Bowl football game.

The contest is an all-star game between the North and the South, but also serves as a fundraiser for the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Representing the north are Sheridan High School players Quinton Mangus, Kyle Meinecke and Justin Vela.

Winfield Loomis from Big Horn is also on the team, and Rams Coach Kirk McLaughlin is an assistant coach.

Buffalo also has one player on the team and that would be Hyrum Hatch.

Both teams will practice all week and the game is scheduled to be played this Saturday at Natrona County High School starting at 1pm.

The North has won the last 7 games and is 10-1-1 in the last 12 contests.

Last year’s game was not played due to concerns about the COVID pandemic, and because of those concerns, the players will not make their annual trip to the Shriner’s Hospital this week, but the game is still on.
