Sheridan HS Soccer: The 4A High School Soccer postseason starts this weekend with the regional tournaments, and things are played a little differently compared to the regular season.
Normally if the score is tied after both teams play 2-40 minute halves, then it’s a tie-game.
At the regional and state tournaments, if tied, then teams will play 2-10 minute overtime periods, alternating directions and it is not sudden death.
If that does not resolve things, then things get settled in a shootout.
Depending on your point of view, if you’re a goalie, you might be excited for it, dreading it, or you accept it as part of the game and do your best.
Sheridan Broncs Senior and Goalie Eli Negron says he’s neutral on the whole issue, because the goalie on the other team is going through the same dilemma.
Lady Broncs Junior and Goalie Sarah Munn says the only shootout experience she has, is a few penalty kick tries here and there during games.
She says sometimes you can anticipate what the attacker is going to do, and sometimes you have to go with your gut instinct and hope you did the right thing.
The Sheridan girls have a first round bye at the upcoming 4A East Regional Tournament and will play on Friday at 3pm against the winner between Cheyenne East and Campbell County.
The Sheridan boys play in an elimination game on Thursday against Cheyenne South at 1pm.
The loser is done for the season, while the winner qualifies for the state tournament and will play again on Friday against the winner between Cheyenne East and Thunder Basin.
TB is hosting this year’s 4A East Regional Tournament.
Sheridan HS Softball: The bracket for the North Regional Tournament in Casper is set.
Sheridan has the #2 seed out of the Northeast and will play the host team, Natrona County in the first round, this Friday at 11am.
Regardless of outcome, the Lady Broncs will play twice that day and the second game will be played at 3pm against either Kelly Walsh or Worland.
It is a double elimination format, but if you lose in the first round or in the semi-finals, you can only play your way back to the 3rd place game.
The one slight advantage that Sheridan might have, is that both Gillette teams are on the opposite side of the bracket.
Denver Broncos Football: The day that pro football fans have been waiting for around this time of year, will be here tomorrow.
The schedules for all 32 teams will be released and a few games have been let out of the bag a little bit early.
Opponents are determined based on what place a team finishes in their division at the end of last year’s regular season, and it does not matter if a team made the playoffs or not.
Most of the schedule outside of the division is on a rotational basis.
Last year, the Denver Broncos played all the teams in the AFC North and the NFC South.
This year they will go through the AFC South and the NFC East.
Since the team finished 3rd in the AFC West, they also take on the 3rd place teams out of the AFC North and East as well as the NFC North.
Denver will play the 9-home 8-away schedule this season.
To break it down, the Broncos list of opponents in 2025 go like this.
They will play home and away against Kansas City, Las Vegas and the LA Chargers.
In the AFC South, the team will play at home vs. Jacksonville and Tennessee and visit Houston and Indianapolis.
In the NFC East, Denver will visit the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles as well as Washington.
In return, they play Dallas and the New York Giants at home.
Other home and away games include playing Green Bay and Cincinnati at home and a road trip to the New York Jets.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 3-game series last night at Texas 2-1.
Game 2 of the 3-game series is today starting at 6:05pm.
Denver Nuggets Basketball/NBA Playoffs: The Denver Nuggets will play Game 5 of their best of 7 Western Conference Semi-final series today at Oklahoma City.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
The series is tied at 2-wins each.
Game 6 will be played on Thursday at Denver.
Last night, New York won at home vs. Boston 121-113 to take a 3-1 series lead against the defending champs.
It got worse for the Celtics when star player Jason Tatum had to be carried off the floor with a leg injury with about 3 minutes to go.
Minnesota won at Golden State 117-110 and lead that series 3-1 as well.
NHL Playoffs: Carolina bested Washington last night 5-2, to take a 3-1 series lead against the top seed in the East.
Edmonton shut out Vegas 3-zip and also have a 3-1 series lead.
