Emme Mullinax Of Big Horn HS To Play Volleyball At Casper College

One of the key players behind the recent success of the Big Horn High School Volleyball team, will stay in Wyoming to play at the next level.
Emme Mullinax has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at Casper College.
During her 4 years playing at BH, she helped the Lady Rams win 3 2A State Championships and had one 2A State Runner-Up finish.
Mullinax says Big Horn’s success as a smaller volleyball school got the attention of many college coaches.
“I think Big Horn has gone to so many big tournaments, 4A tournaments, and 3A tournaments, and we played really well against those big schools and so I think for them, seeing a smaller school crushing these big schools, it made them curious about what was so different about Big Horn, and I think when they realized that we have such good team dynamic and we had a lot of good leaders, I think that just set us apart from other teams.”
She adds she’s been playing since 7th grade and explains what’s so fun about the sport.
“There’s always something happening. Every point, it’s pretty fairly quick. I’d say 20 seconds is a rally, even less than that and every point, it’s something big. A block is cool, a setter dump is cool, an ace is cool, a hit is cool. There’s always something fun happening and it’s so fast pace, where it’s just so exciting.”
As much as she’s enjoyed the game, Mullinax says volleyball may not be in her long term future.
“I wasn’t for sure going to commit for 4 years for volleyball, because there’s a lot of things I want to do in college, like studying abroad, so I thought JUCO was a perfect happy medium for me for 2 years.”
Mullinax says she is considering majoring in pre-med.
