Morning Sports: March 31, 2025

Sheridan HS Wrestling: The awards and honors keep piling up for a Sheridan Lady Bronc wrestler.
This past weekend, three-time state champ Becca Oetken, placed 4th at the 2025 National High School Coaches Association Folkstyle Wrestling National Championship Tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
That earns her All-American status, because she finished in the top 8.
It’s the 2nd year in a row for the Sheridan HS senior.
She competed in the Girls 185 pound weight bracket and made it to the semi-finals, before ending up in the consolation bracket.
Of the 6 matches she competed in, she won 4 of them.
Seven other wrestlers from Sheridan and 1 from Big Horn also competed in the tournament.
Sheridan/Buffalo HS Soccer: Both the Sheridan teams had productive weekends.
The Lady Broncs defeated Cheyenne South on Friday 5-zip and then got a goal midway through the 2nd half on Saturday to win at home vs. Laramie 1-nil.
Sheridan is now 3-0 on the season and have yet to allow a goal.
Meanwhile, the Broncs went on the road on Friday and beat Cheyenne South 4-0, and then played to a scoreless draw at Laramie on Saturday.
The Buffalo boys lost at home vs. Torrington on Saturday 1-nil, while the girls won 3-nil.
This coming Friday, it’s Sheridan vs. Buffalo.
The boys game will be played in Johnson County, while Sheridan will host the girls game.

In Outdoor Track and Field, the season for the Sheridan and Johnson County teams started this past weekend.
Sheridan hosted a 5-team meet which included Buffalo and Big Horn.
Tongue River was at Burlington, Arvada-Clearmont competed at Newcastle and Kaycee traveled to Wheatland.
This Saturday is the Jerry Campbell Invitational in Buffalo.
Sheridan HS Softball: Sheridan lost both ends of a double-header on Friday at Thunder Basin.
Scores were 10-zip and 13-2.

The Lady Broncs are scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Cody starting at 4pm, although the weather forecast is not looking promising.
Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball: The season is not over just yet for the Mountain West Conference.
This week is the College Basketball Crown Tournament, which will take place in Las Vegas.
Boise State is the lone conference representative, and will play today at 3:30pm against George Washington.
The 16-team tournament will have games everyday this week, except for Friday and will crown its winner on Sunday.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at Tampa Bay to start the season.
Friday’s score was 3-2 as the Rays walked it off in the bottom of the 9th.
On Saturday, Colorado won 2-1, but dropped the rubber game of the series yesterday 6-4.
Mickey Moniak hit a 2-run home run in the last game, but it was not enough.
Today the Rocks start a 3-game series at Philadelphia.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm.
Tomorrow is an off day and then the team will play again on Wednesday and Thursday.
The home opener in Denver is this coming Friday against the Athletics.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won this past Friday at home vs. Utah 129-93.
The Nuggets next play tomorrow at home vs. Minnesota.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost on Saturday at home vs. St. Louis 2-1.
The Avs next play today at home vs. Calgary, starting at 6:30pm.
