Sheridan HS Softball: The first home game for the Sheridan High School softball team will take place 2 days sooner than scheduled.

With rain in the forecast overnight tomorrow and into Saturday, the Lady Broncs home opening double-header against Campbell County, scheduled for Saturday, has been moved up to today.

Start times at the Sheridan College Softball Complex are at 4 and 6pm.

On Friday, the Lady Broncs will travel to Thunder Basin.

This year marks the 5th year of varsity softball in Wyoming, and each of the previous 4 state championships have been won by the Gillette teams.

The Lady Camels won the first title in 2021, and the Lady Bolts won the next 3.

To some extent, Sheridan is about to go from the frying pan and into the fire, in terms of the competition that the team is about to face.

Junior Hayden Lewallen says if the Lady Broncs can adapt quickly to the style of play of their opponents, then they have a chance.

Head Coach Kristen Czaban has a similar opinion.

Games are 7-inning contests, with a 10-run mercy rule after 5 innings.

The way it works in softball quadrant double-header games, is that only the first game counts towards the quadrant record.

The second game is just a game, for the sake of playing another game.

University of Wyoming Spring Football: Spring practice resumes today at the University of Wyoming.

Back on Tuesday, the Pokes held their first practice with helmets and no pads.

The latter of which will be used at practice beginning on Saturday.

Head Coach Jay Sawvel says not a whole lot happened on the first day and it was mostly the basic stuff, but it was a start.

UW is already down 1 coach.

Donnell Kirkwood, who was hired back in January to be the teams’ running back coach, has departed to take the same job at Washington State.

His predecessor at WSU just resigned after being arrested 2 weeks ago for DUI.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home vs. Milwaukee, 127-117.

The Nuggets next play Friday at home vs. Utah.

Currently Denver would have the #3 seed in the playoffs and trail Houston for the #2 seed by 1 ½ games, and have 8 games remaining on the schedule.

The Nuggets are already assured a spot in the postseason and at worst, it would be in the play-in series.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: Today is opening day in the USA.

The regular season started last week, when the LA Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs played a 2-game series in Japan.

Today, 28 teams will take to the field.

The only 2 that will not play today, will be the Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays, who will start a 3-game series vs. each other tomorrow, and also play Saturday and Sunday.

After that the Rocks will play a 3-game series at Philadelphia.

The home opener is one week from tomorrow against the Athletics.
