Ty Gilbertson Of Sheridan HS To Play Football At Montana Tech: A Sheridan Bronc Senior who quarterbacked his team to a 4th consecutive football state championship, will continue to call signals at the collegiate level.
Ty Gilbertson has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at Montana Tech.
This past season he completed 60% of his passes for more than 1,700 yards and threw 22 touchdown passes, plus he ran in 5 TD’s himself.
Gilbertson says the coaching staff for the Orediggers kept in constant contact and that was part of what won him over.
Gilbertson adds he is considering a major in engineering.
Montana Tech is an NAIA school located in Butte.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are trying to make the most of their 10-game homestand in order to make a push towards the postseason.
This past weekend the team swept a 2-game home series vs. Gillette, winning by scores of 7-4 and 6-4.
The top 4 teams in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division qualify for the playoffs and with a little less than 2 months to go before the postseason, the Hawks are sitting in 2nd place.
Bozeman would be the first team out, and Sheridan Head Coach J.J. Santagata says the Icedogs are like Butte, who was in town 2 weeks ago.
He adds the opposition is trying to play their way in and that presents its own challenges.
The puck drops on both Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm.
The Hawks will be without their second leading scorer Vincent Leaf, because earlier this week, he was called up to play for Anchorage.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys had a hard time getting shots to drop last night, as the team got walloped at Boise State 96-55.
The Brown and Gold shot 35% for the game, while the opposition shot 58%.
Obi Agbim led UW with 16 points, while Dontaie Allen came off the bench to provide 11.
The Cowboys are now 9-8 on the season with a 2-4 record in the Mountain West Conference.
This coming Saturday is Round 1 of the Border War, as Wyoming hosts Colorado State.
Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls play today at home vs. Nevada.
