Morning Sports: January 9, 2025

Sheridan Boys Swimming and Diving: Sheridan will host a pre-invite meet tomorrow and the Sheridan Invitational on Saturday.

Leading the way for the Broncs is junior Ben Forsythe who usually excels in both the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly races.

He says he stayed busy during the high school off-season.

Tomorrow’s Pre-Invite meet is scheduled to begin at 4pm and the Sheridan Invitational is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 9am at the Junior High School pool.

Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan Broncs and Lady Broncs are back on the court for the first time in 3 weeks.

The teams will play in the Cheyenne Invitational.

Their opponent today is 3A Wheatland and that game will be played at Cheyenne South.

The girls tip off at 3:30pm and the boys game will follow.

University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls lost last night at New Mexico 73-67.

UW tied the game at 53 early in the 4th quarter, but then the Lady Lobos answered with a 7-0 run, and the Cowgirls could not get any closer than 3 points after that.

Turnovers were a key in the game as well, because the Brown and Gold gave up the ball 15 times, which resulted in 14 points for the opposition.

Allyson Fertig led Wyoming with 17 points.

Tess Barnes put in 15 and Malene Pedersen added in 14.

McKinley Dickerson scored 10 off of the bench.

The Cowgirls are now 8-7 on the season with a 2-1 record in the Mountain West Conference.

Their next game is this coming Saturday at home vs. San Diego State.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home against the LA Clippers 126-103.

The Nuggets next play tomorrow at home vs. Brooklyn.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at Chicago 3-1.

The Avs next play today at Minnesota, starting at 6pm.
