Tongue River Girls Basketball: The Tongue River girls basketball team has been living up to the challenge so far, of being the defending 2A State Champs, seven games into the season.
The Lady Eagles are 6-1, and have already passed one major test, when they won on the road against Wyoming Indian 2 weeks ago.
Senior McKinlee Scammon says TR needed a win like that, even though it was early in the season.
Head Coach Amanda Cummins says beating the Lady Chiefs at Ethete was a big confidence booster.
Tongue River will be back in action on January 10th and 11th with games at Shoshoni and at Thermopolis.
Opponents are to be announced.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost at home back on Tuesday vs. Boise State 67-58.
UW had a 1-point lead about mid-way through the second half, and were only down by 1 point with about 8 minutes to go, but the opposition gradually pulled away.
Boise State ended up shooting 45% for the game, compared to Wyoming’s 35% and they found more ways to get to the free throw line.
The Broncos were 17 of 22 from the charity stripe, while the Cowboys were only 9 of 15.
A.J. Willis came off the bench to lead the brown and gold in scoring with 17 points, while Obi Agbim put in 14.
UW now has a record of 8-6 overall, with a 1-2 record in conference play.
The Brown and Gold next play Saturday at Air Force.
Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls started conference play yesterday with a 73-53 win at home vs. Utah State.
The ladies shot 46% for the game and held the opposition to about 30% shooting, plus they outrebounded the Lady Aggies 46-32.
Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 22 points, while Allyson Fertig put in 14.
Kati Ollilainen and McKinley Dickerson contributed with 11 points each.
UW is now 7-6 on the season with a 1-0 record in the Mountain West Conference.
The team next plays Saturday at Fresno State.

Back on Tuesday night, Boise State lost in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Penn State 31-14.
The conference finishes the season with a record of 1-4 in bowl games, with UNLV getting the only win.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home vs. Atlanta 139-120.
The Nuggets next play tomorrow at home vs. San Antonio.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won back on Tuesday at home vs. Winnipeg 5-2.
The Avs next play today at home vs. Buffalo, starting at 7pm.
